Sadistik Exekution was an Australian death metal band and was one of the most influential Australian extreme metal bands of the 1990s.

Band history

The band was founded in 1985 by Rok and Dave Slave, the idea came to them after they met at an Iron Maiden concert . Guitarist Claws Mayhem completed the preliminary line-up of the band. In the first years of its existence, the musicians received less musical than media attention. Bassist Dave Slave performed on Australian television on the talent show Hey Hey! It's Saturday on where he smashed his bass, singer Rok gave an interview for the Australian edition of Penthouse . It is not proven that Sadistik Execution actually recorded their first demo in 1987 .

The later guitarist Rev. Kriss Hades joined the band in 1989, but was temporarily replaced by Sandy Vahdanni from Slaughter Lord for the 1990 recordings for the first album , because he was not technically good enough for the other band members. No record label wanted to release the debut The Magus , which is why the band had it pressed themselves, Vampire Records took over the distribution. After the recordings, Vahdanni and Sloth left the band. The latter returned briefly in 1991 so that the band could play live. In the same year Sadistik Exekution released the single Sadistically Executed and the Demo Suspiral . The first shows followed, including a. with Alchemist , and the 1992 demo Agonizing the Dead . 1993 Sloth left the band again and was replaced by Steve Hoban.

In 1994 Sadistik Exekution signed a record deal with the French independent label Osmose Productions . Originally the next album was supposed to be released under the title Sadistik Exekution , but the band had on the mixtapes We Are Death… Fukk You !! so that Osmose eventually used this phrase as the album title. In 1995 drummer Steve Hoban got acute back problems and was replaced by Matt "Skitz" Sanders (ex-Damaged). This was followed by a 1995 tour of Australia with Morbid Angel and a European tour with Impaled Nazarene and Absu, who are also under contract with Osmose . During this tour there were repeated arguments between Rok, Kriss Hades and Dave Slave, as a result of which Hades had to end the tour with a broken finger. In 1997 Sloth returned to the band.

During the live performances, the band members mobbed each other, and it was not uncommon for fights between the musicians and with the audience. For this reason, the band hardly received any appearances at the end of the 1990s and the musicians increasingly devoted themselves to their solo projects. Dave Slave founded the electronic rock band Digital Fiction, Kriss Hades joined the black metal band Naxzul, and Rok released the debut album This Is Satanik by his own band Rok through Osmose . The last concert was Sadistik Execution in late 1999 at Sydney's Globe Theater . They were originally supposed to be one of the headliners at the 2000 Metal for the Brain festival, but had to cancel the show because Dave Slave broke his leg.

Despite all rumors of dissolution, Fukk was released in 2002 and Fukk II in 2004 , the latter being described by Kriss Hades as the irrevocably last album of the band. Since then, the musicians have gone their separate ways. Kriss Hade's first solo album Wind of Orion was released in 2002. In 2003, Dave Slave tried his hand at acting in an advertising campaign for potato chips and founded Doomed and Disgusting. Sloth played in various bands since 2004, including a. at Inslain and 8 Ball Junkies. Dave Slave said in a 2004 interview that sadistic execution was history.

In 2006, Nuclear War Now! Productions re-used the material from the 1996 EP Demon with Wings as a split LP with Nifelheim under the name Tribute to Slayer Magazine .

Musical development

Although the band was under contract with Osmose Productions at a record label specializing in Black Metal , their style could be assigned to Death Metal. While The Magus was comparable to old recordings by Sepultura , Morbid Angel and other bands from the early days of Death Metal, on We Are Death the band offered … Fukk You !! Death Metal with borrowings from Black Metal and Grindcore , mixed with samples and keyboards . Therefore, the band is also assigned to the Black Metal style sometimes called "War Black Metal" or "War Metal". On KAOS the band tried to explore new extremes. It is also referred to as the band's toughest and most uncompromising album. Fukk went in a stylistically similar direction and offered a mixture of Beherit , early Voivod , Anal Cunt and Autopsy . The last official release Fukk II was again influenced more by Grindcore and got only mediocre or bad reviews due to the sometimes difficult to understand song structures.
