Rok was an Australian black , death and thrash metal band from Sydney that was formed in 1998 and disbanded around 2001.

history

Rok was founded by the sadistic execution singer of the same name . During the recording of the debut album This Is Satanik in early 1998, guitarist Natalie "Princess Heinkel Hellfukker" Meisenhelter, bassist and guitarist The Impostor and at least two drummers were also involved as singer. The publication took place in the same year at Osmose Productions . Shortly after completing the first album, the group was working on the second. As with the first album, members of Sadistik Exekution helped with the writing process and contributed guest posts. The album was released after a slight delay in 2000 on Modern Invasion Records under the name Burning Metal . The cast consisted of Rok, Meisenhelter and The Impostor from the guitarist King Pest III and the drummers Piston Thunderblood, Sloth and Kunthammer. The band's only appearance was in late 1999, with the cast consisting of Rok, The Impostor and Meisenhelter, drummer Wayne Campbell and bassist Nik Tropiano. 2001 Iron Pegasus Records released the single Under a Southern Sky .

style

According to Brian Fischer-Giffin in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal , the band plays a raw mix of Thrash and Death Metal with crazy-twisted vocals. In his review of This Is Satanik, Martin Wickler from Metal Hammer drew a comparison with Sadistik Execution, although Rok's music was less quick. It still takes getting used to. Bad taste is celebrated on the album. Occasionally there is a “short, radio play-like and, to be honest, quite sick interlude” between the songs. Frank Stöver from voicesfromthedarkside.de stated in his review of Burning Metal that the lyrics are full of clichés and include things like the color black, leather, Satan , fire and hell. The production is solid, authentic and has a raw sound. Musically, the group processes influences from Bathory , Venom and Motörhead .
