Misery Speaks was a German melodic death metal band from Münster , whose style is based on the Gothenburg school.

history

Misery Speaks was formed in 1999, although a relatively permanent line-up did not come about until 2001. At that time the band consisted of singer Claus Ulka, bassist Olaf Piasetzki, drummer Janosch Rathmer and guitarists Florian Füntmann and Stephan Gall. They recorded their first album, Things Fall Apart , on their own in 2003, where they were able to win the distribution of “Unstoppable Media”. For the most part good reviews brought them performance offers and so they gave concerts in the opening act of bands such as Napalm Death , Vader , disbelief , Dew-Scented and Heaven Shall Burn .

Shortly after Olaf Piasetzki left the band in 2004 and was replaced by Pascal Berke (ex-Dawn of Insanity), Misery Speaks recorded an EP on their own again , which was used to promote their music under the name Demo 2005 . In March 2006 they got a record deal with Alveran Records . Pascal Berke was replaced by Martin Grossmann on bass due to time problems. Then the songs and other material already used for the EP were re-recorded in the Rape of Harmony Studio for a CD that was mixed by Dan Swanö . On June 23, 2006, the self-titled album was released.

In May 2007 there were again recordings in the Rape of Harmony Studio for the new album Catalog of Carnage , whose mix was again done by Dan Swanö. The release took place on January 25, 2008 on the Drakkar Entertainment label . A year later the album Disciples of Doom was released .

In November 2009 the band announced their end, which should take place after a farewell tour in 2010. However, due to poor advance sales, the tour was canceled and reduced to the farewell concert on February 13, 2010 in Münster.
