Witherscape is a Swedish Progressive - Death Metal - band , which was founded in 2012.

history

The band was founded in 2012 by Dan Swanö . Swanö has previously worked as a musician with groups such as Nightingale , Edge of Sanity , Bloodbath , Moontower and Pan.Thy.Monium , as well as producing bands such as Opeth , Dissection , Katatonia and Asphyx . Swanö was also supported by the multi-instrumentalist Ragnar Widerberg. Swanö took on the vocals, drums and keyboards, while Ragnar played the electric guitar and bass. Together they recorded their debut album in Swano's Unisound Studio . The recordings were finished in April 2012. However, since Swanö still edited the material very often, the album was only released in 2013 under the name The Inheritance . This was a concept album, the story of which was designed by a friend of Swanös, Paul Kuhr ( November's Doom ).

style

Alexander Melzer from metal-observer.com described the music as a mixture of Edge of Sanity, Nightingale and Moontower . The song structures are partly clearly recognizable; in other places, however, the structures would not be immediately accessible. The singing varies between clear and guttural singing. James Zalucky of metalinjection.net drew comparisons to groups like Rush , King Crimson , Savatage , The Ocean and Opeth .
