Novembers Doom is an American death doom band from Chicago , Illinois that was formed in 1989.

history

The band was founded in 1989 by singer Paul Kuhr. In 1992 the band reached a contract with Regress Records and recorded the demo Her Tears Drop . This made the Italian label Avantgarde Music aware of the band, which released the debut album Amid Its Hallowed Mirth in early 1995 . In 2006 the band was on the compilation What's for Dinner? to hear from Pavement Music . This was followed by regional tours. In 1997 the EP For Every Leaf That Falls was released . 1999 joined the second album Of Sculptured Ivy and Stone Flowers with Martyr Music Group . In May 2000 the band went back to the studio to record the third album The Knowing with producer Chris Wisco ( Studio One ) . In July 2000 the band signed a contract with Dark Symphonies Records , about which The Knowing appeared. Outside North America , the album was released by Pavement Music.

In October 2002, the band recorded next album To Welcome the Fade , which was produced by Neil Kernon . The sound carrier was released that same year. In 2004 the band toured North America with The Gathering , which led to a contract with The End Records that summer . The band went into the studio to record the album The Pale Haunt Departure . The album was mixed by Dan Swanö and mastered by James Murphy . The album was released worldwide in March 2005 on The End Records and Candlelight Records . A music video was also recorded for the theme song and the song Autumn Reflection . This was followed by various concerts and performances at festivals. The band also held their first European tour .

In 2006 the band took the next album The Novella Reservoir again with producer Chris Wisco, who also played the bass on the album. The album was mixed again by Dan Swanö, it was also mastered by James Murphy. The album was released in 2007, with a music video created for the single Rain , which was broadcast on MTV2's Headbangers Ball . In 2007 the band went on tour through Europe, on which the live DVD The Novella Vosselaar: Live In Belgium was created.

In 2008 and 2009 the band played other concerts such as the Graspop Metal Meeting or the Brutal Assault . In 2009 the next album Into Night's Requiem Infernal was released . A video was recorded for the song A Eulogy for the Living Lost in December . In 2010 the bands held further performances in Europe before the band returned to the United States to record the album Aphotic , which was released in May 2011. This was followed by appearances in the USA, as well as filming music videos for Harvest Scythe and What Could Have Been , on which Anneke van Giersbergen could be heard as a guest singer, as well as violinist Rachel Barton Pine .

style

In their early days the band played a mixture of Thrash and Death Metal. The later works are a mixture of death and doom metal, with the booming bass and the dark vocals being particularly characteristic.
