The canton of Épinal-1 is a French constituency in the Arrondissement Épinal , in the Département Vosges and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); its capital is Épinal .

history

The canton was created when the French cantons were redistributed in 2015. Its communities come from the cantons of Épinal-Ouest (5 communities) and Épinal-Est (2 communities) and the districts of the city of Épinal on the left bank of the Moselle .

The canton is located in the center of the Vosges department.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Ghislaine Jeandel-Ballongue / Yannick Villemin (both UD) won against Lise Claudepierre / Romain Patenay (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 69.76% (turnout: 47.59%).
