Rouvres-la-Chétive is a French commune with 450 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region (until 2015: Lorraine ). The municipality is part of the Neufchâteau arrondissement and the Ouest Vosgien municipal association founded in 2017 . The residents call themselves Roburien (ne) s .

Rouvres-la-Chétive is located on the Frézelle , a tributary of the Vair , about nine kilometers southeast of Neufchâteau . Rouvres-la-Chétive is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rollainville and Vouxey in the north, Châtenois in the east, Darney-aux-Chênes in the southeast, Ollainville in the south, Landaville in the southwest and Tilleux and Certilleux in the west.

history

During the Ancien Régime Rouvres-la-Chétive was part of the Bailiwick of Neufchateau. The parish of the former church of St. Martin belonged to the Deanery Châtenois in the Diocese of Toul, Dean Châtenois under the auspices of the Abbey of Saint-Evre in Toul . The name suffix -la-Chétive was made to better distinguish it from the commune of Rouvres-en-Xaintois, a few kilometers away .

The partly two-lane expressway (D 166, former Route nationale 66 ) from Épinal via Mirecourt to Neufchâteau leads through Rouvres-la-Chétive. The next motorway junction is seven kilometers east on the A31 autoroute .
