history

The place name goes back to the name of a glassworks, of which there were numerous in the woods around Darney. In 1751 Hennezel belonged to the Darney Bailiwick .

In 1724, a metal factory was founded in today's district of La Hutte in the valley of the Ourche on the site of an abandoned paper mill. It later became the Royal Manufactory La Hutte , where cutting and chopping tools such as scissors, hatchets and axes were made. The factory was closed in 1940. The building of the former grinding shop, which also served as a warehouse, is still preserved today.
