Norroy is a French commune in the department of Vosges in the region of Grand Est (2015 Lorraine ). It is part of the Neufchâteau arrondissement and the Terre d'Eau municipality .

geography

The municipality of Norroy, with 222 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), is located about three kilometers northwest of Vittel in a side valley of the upper Vair . Neighboring communities of Norroy are Saint-Baslemont in the north, Vittel in the east, Contrexéville in the southwest and Mandres-sur-Vair in the west.

history

Norroy belonged to a commandery that was subordinate to the Templar Henri, comte de Vaudémont . Two thirds of the income of the village went to the Duke of Lorraine , one third was given to the Order of Malta in Robécourt am Mouzon. In 1751 Norroy came to the bailiwick of Bourmont. After the creation of the Vosges department in 1790, Norroy was incorporated into the Lamarche district and the Mandres canton (both were dissolved a few years later). Ecclesiastically, the village was tied to the parish in Mandres-sur-Vair until its own church was built in the 19th century .

Six farms are located in the municipality (dairy farming, breeding cattle, sheep and goats, pig farming).

In the nearby town of Vittel there is a connection to the D 165 to Épinal . In Bulgnéville , six kilometers to the west, there is a driveway to the A 31 autoroute . Vittel station is on the Merrey – Hymont-Mattaincourt railway line .
