Life
Gersum received right after the war his artistic training in Berlin and Hamburg before the he community college Cuxhaven connected stage The play changed and how even worked there as an actor as a director. In 1951 he took over the management of this venue from Curt Blachnitzky until the end of the same decade. Then (1959/60) he went on a tour to South America and worked at the Neue Kammerspiele in Rio de Janeiro as an actor and senior director. Further guest appearances, sometimes as a director, sometimes as an actor, later (1960s, 1970s) took him to Bielefeld ( municipal theaters ) and Hamburg ( Kammerspiele , young theater ). Gersum remained in the Hanseatic city last.
Since the late 1950s Gersum was also seen in television productions. He has appeared as a guest in an abundance of series and several ambitious individual productions - mostly television plays with a historical background. Wolf von Gersum's distinctive and strict appearance predestined him for gentlemen of the world but also for doctors, directors and officers of all kinds. He was, for example, Peter Graf Yorck von Wartenburg in a Stauffenberg portrait from 1970, Major Lejeune in Sir Basil Zaharoff - Realtor of Death and Field Marshal Paulus in the National Committee 'Free Germany' . In 1968 Gersum was brought to Norway and played a central role alongside Liv Ullmann and Per Oscarsson in the historical women's drama My name is An-Magritt . It was to be his only work in the cinema.
After 1982 Gersum's track is lost; his name is no longer listed in the specialist directory for stage, television and film artists 'Kay's Germany 1985'. Wolf von Gersum had two sons.
