What is wanted ... was a ZDF evening series. 26 episodes were produced in two seasons in 1975 and 1978 and broadcast in 1976 and 1978. The producers were FJ Schlueter and Horst Lockau.
action
The fictional cases deal with people who disappeared for no apparent reason and were therefore reported missing. Police chief masters Felix Brauer and Hans Grothe deal with these cases. While the latter determines exclusively from his desk, Brauer also takes on the leg work.
Others
Each episode of the first season began with the following wording by an off-speaker: “Every day people disappear from our everyday lives. In the Federal Republic of Germany alone there are over 20,000 each year. 20,000 people who, as the police put it, 'leave their circle of life for no apparent reason'. You are considered missing… ”In the second season this introduction was omitted, instead the person to be searched was shown shortly before they disappeared, and only then did the opening credits begin.
The subsequent titles were named after the name of the missing person. The film was shot in and around Hamburg and in Spain. The interior shots were taken in the Hamburg studio . Director Peter Meincke was mainly responsible for the scripts, especially in the second season.
As early as 1964, an American crime series with the same title ran on ARD . The episodes (original title: "Manhunt" ) were shot from 1959 to 1961.
