Katharina Matz

Katharina Matz (born June 11, 1930 in Haindorf ) is a German actress .

Life

Katharina Matz received her acting training in Magdeburg . She got her first engagement in Greifswald . In 1954 she brought Wolfgang Langhoff , the director of the Deutsches Theater Berlin, to his house. In 1958 she was invited by Ida Ehre , the director of the Hamburger Kammerspiele , for two productions. Matz then stayed at the Kammerspiele for four years. In 1962 she moved to the Thalia Theater in Hamburg under the then artistic director Willy Maertens . Katharina Matz then belonged to the Thalia Theater ensemble for a total of 49 years. She returned to Berlin in 2011 and has been a guest at the Deutsches Theater since then.

In 1954 she made her film debut at DEFA in “ Carola Lamberti - Eine vom Zirkus ” and in 1957 she played her first major film lead role in “ Hotelboy Ed Martin ”. Her first film in the FRG was “ The man who sold himself ” in which she played alongside Hildegard Knef , Hansjörg Felmy and Antje Weisgerber .

For many years, the actress has also appeared in various television films and series. In 2019, she shot a six-part series for SWR entitled “The Last Will”, which is expected to be broadcast on ARD in ERSTEN in autumn 2020.
