Andreas Jungwirth

Andreas Jungwirth (born April 15, 1967 in Linz ) is an Austrian actor and author .

Life

Andreas Jungwirth grew up in Langholzfeld near Linz, where he lived until the mid-1980s. After two years, he broke off a course in German and theater studies that he had initially started at the University of Vienna to study drama at the local conservatory. In 1988 Jungwirth made his debut at the Lübeck Theater , of which he was a member for six years. He also had an engagement at the Central Saxon Theater in Döbeln. In 1992, together with the composer Wolfgang Heisig, he founded the Zwirn Theater, a stage that dealt with Dadaism and New Music . Jungwirth's first radio work was the radio play Madonnenterror , produced in 1997 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) , which has been followed by a number of other works for both ORF and German broadcasters to this day.

In addition, Jungwirth writes plays, some of which he rewrote as radio play versions. For the production company speaklow of the director Harald Krewer he develops audio book versions of various texts. Many of his columns appeared in the weekly newspaper Der Freitag , and further reports and stories were published in various publications. Jungwirth presented his first novel in 2014 with the youth book Not a Single Word .

Andreas Jungwirth has been working as a freelancer since 2000, lived in Berlin for a long time and returned to Vienna in 2010. In addition to his work as a writer, he taught at the Schauspielhaus and runs the youth program there, Szene Make! (2010–2012) and a writing class (2011–2013).

In 2012 he founded the radio playhouse at the Schauspielhaus Wien . He curates and moderates the regular event, which is dedicated to the institutionally produced radio play and the independent radio play scene and their makers (previous cooperation partners: Ö1 , Institute for Linguistic Art, FH St. Pölten , Institute for Theater, Film and Media Studies ). In 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 he hosted the Ö1 radio play gala together with Doris Glaser .
