The FH St. Pölten GmbH offers university education in the departments of rail technology and mobility, health, IT and security, media and digital technologies, media and economics as well as social issues. The connection of the subject areas in teaching and research creates space for interdisciplinary scientific findings, products and solutions for business and society. Around 3,200 students receive practical academic training in several courses of study and advanced training courses.
General
history
The history of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences began in 1993 with the establishment of the Association for the Promotion of the Society for the Implementation of University of Applied Sciences courses in St. Pölten mbH. The first diploma course began in the 1996/1997 academic year. In January 2004 the educational institution was given the designation "University of Applied Sciences". In 2007 the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences moved into the building on Matthias Corvinus-Straße. The range of courses currently consists of thirteen bachelor's and thirteen master’s courses as well as 22 advanced training courses.

At the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, research is carried out in the following institutes and fields of competence:
- Media technology / IC \ M / T - Institute for Creative \ Media / Technologies:
- The media area at the IC \ M / T is made up of the research groups Video Production, Audio Design, Media Computing and Mobile and researches in the areas of creative content & digital heritage, info & edutainment and smart tools & digital workflows.
- Media Industry / Austrian Institute for Media Economics:
- Research topics are changing media systems, new forms of organization and business models, the impact and use of media.
- IT security / Institute for IT security research:
- Research focuses on privacy, biometrics, IT forensics, industrial security, antiforensics, security management, software security.
- Health / Institute for Health Sciences:
- Nutrition and exercise in health promotion, prevention, therapy, rehabilitation and quality assurance with special consideration of geria nutrition, counseling methodology, posture - exercise - locomotion, supply research as well as interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary topics.
- Social / Ilse Arlt Institute for Social Inclusion Research:
- Social diagnostics, social space analyzes, client participation, diversity, seniors and their relatives, general inclusion issues, use of new media.
- Simulation:
- Fast algorithms and complex simulation models for the application of numerical methods, etc. a. for sustainable development, materials research and sensor technology.
- Rail Technology & Mobility / Carl Ritter von Ghega Institute for Integrated Mobility Research:
- Application-oriented research and development with a focus on traffic and mobility.
- Josef Ressel Center for the Consolidated Detection of Targeted Attacks (TARGET):
- Research into IT security in the event of targeted attacks against companies.
College
After the college election in 2017, the college re-elected Monika Vyslouzil as rector and Helmut Kammerzelt as her deputy for three years.

Since the 2007/08 winter semester, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences has been located in the then newly constructed 14,300 square meter campus building.
Infrastructure:
- Five lecture halls with space for up to 215 people,
- 24 seminar rooms,
- ten multimedia laboratories,
- seven computer rooms,
- Ballroom for up to 500 people,
- Cafeteria with around 170 seats and
- 225 parking spaces
- Library with around 30,000 media
In 2013, additional rooms were rented in the nearby Business and Innovation Center (BIZ) St. Pölten. The library of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences has a collection of more than 30,000 media and has also housed a branch of the city library since 2013.
A number of support facilities at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences support the students in organizational matters. The sports club offers a wide range of courses and a special support program for competitive athletes.
The campus of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences is about ten minutes' walk from the St. Pölten train station. Student residences are located in the immediate vicinity of the campus. Two natural swimming lakes are within walking distance.

The free radio also serves as a training radio for the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences and is the only terrestrial student station in Austria. Students deal with all aspects of everyday radio life. The areas of responsibility range from moderation and program design to technology and audio production to marketing and event organization.
SUMO magazine
The training magazine of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences in print and online offers students the opportunity to participate in the creation of a magazine from scratch. SUMO's products, which are managed as a training or junior company by the Media Management Department, include the print magazine (with a circulation of 6,000), which appears three times a year, and the online magazine SUMOmag.at. Both media take up topics related to the media and communication world.
C-TV - Television Research Laboratory
c-tv produces articles on current topics, short films and pilot programs. c-tv is also an experimental laboratory for new TV formats and experiments with the medium of television. All contributions are produced by students at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. Under the guidance of experienced lecturers, the students get to know processes that are necessary for the development, production and presentation of a television program and design them independently.
FhSPACEtv
fhSPACEtv is an interdisciplinary initiative of the Media Technology and Digital Media Technologies / Institute for Creative \ Media / Technologies. The initiative, which is part of the Media Technology and Digital Media Technologies courses, tries to bundle creative and artistic forces within the FH departments, to sound out the individual specific accesses and requirements for the digital medium and to develop alternative information channels and forms of presentation that are appropriate to the time using a student pool.
International
The St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences maintains relationships with more than 100 partner universities in 30 countries. In 2013, more than 50 guest lecturers from other countries taught at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences.
In order to be able to support the worldwide activities of students and employees, the rectorate has appointed six mobility ambassadors from among the teaching staff, students and employees. You have already gained international experience, promote further international exchange at the FH and provide advice to interested parties.
