The University of Applied Sciences Burgenland has been a provider of courses in Burgenland since the introduction of technical college courses in Austria in 1994 . It has two locations in Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld . As is customary in the Austrian FH sector, it is a private-law organization in the form of a GmbH , owned by the state holding Burgenland.

Teaching takes place in five departments:

  • Economy (with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe)
  • Information technology and information management
  • Energy environmental management
  • Social
  • health

In addition to teaching and studying, applied research and development is carried out.

Since 2013, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland has offered courses, face-to-face and distance learning in cooperation with Incite of the UBIT Academy through its subsidiary AIM - Austrian Institute of Management (Business School of the FH Burgenland). Incite stands for "institute for management consultants and information technology experts". The quality academy incite of the professional association for management consulting, accounting and IT services (UBIT) of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce is considered a pioneer of procedural consulting and IT consulting. Well over 7,000 graduates in good positions and an employment rate of around 98% prove the high quality of training at the university.

Currently (as of 2019) around 1,000 students start their training every year. More than 5,000 students have graduated. The cross-border network of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland cooperates with around 70 partner universities and around 400 business enterprises throughout Europe with a focus on Central-Eastern European countries.

In 2019 Gernot Hanreich was re-elected for his third term as rector for a further four years.
