History and Development

In 2003, the Ronald Lauder Foundation established the Lauder Business School under President Ronald S. Lauder. Vienna was chosen as the location for the founding of this international university because the city represents a bridge between western and eastern traditions. The LBS combines American and European educational methods and is connected to the Harvard MOC (Microeconomics of Competitiveness) network, which comprises more than 100 prominent business schools from 65 different countries. Based on the key concepts of Professor Michael Porter, the network offers scholarships, research and development opportunities. In the founding years, the Lauder Business School offered an 8-semester master's degree in International Marketing and Management. From 2007 to 2013, students were admitted to two new fields of study: a 6-semester bachelor's degree and a 4-semester master's degree. Since 2013, the LBS has offered three study programs: a bachelor's degree in International Business Administration and two master's degrees (International Management and Leadership and Strategic Finance and Business Analytics).

campus

The Lauder Business School has a campus on which a main building with classrooms, a library and administration building as well as auditoriums, a cafeteria and the student dormitory (in cooperation with the Jewish Heritage Center) can be found. The main part has a size of 1,200 m² and thus offers enough space for lecture and seminar rooms. Another 750 m² are used as office space; the student dormitory is located at the southern end of the park. The campus is located in Vienna's 19th district, Döbling, between Pyrkergasse and Hofzeile.

The buildings (apart from the auditorium and the cafeteria, which were specially built for the school) consist of a former palace complex of Maria Theresa, which it received from Charles IV and which was built by Nicolò Pacassi. Later the buildings were used by members of the Rothschild family and then served as a hospital.

The Bank Austria Creditanstalt Auditorium was built in 2003 and is dedicated to Gerhard Randa, the former chairman of BA-CA. The conversion and expansion of the baroque palace complex of the Lauder Business School was carried out by the Berlin architectural office Kuehn Malvezzi.
