The FH Kufstein University of Applied Sciences is an Austrian university of applied sciences in Kufstein in the north-east of Tyrol . The FH Kufstein Tirol is a public institution in the post-secondary sector, the maintainer of which is the Fachhochschule Kufstein Tirol-Privatstiftung.

The range of courses covers Bachelor - and master - degree programs and a post-graduate program . The FH Kufstein Tirol is also the organizer of specialist events and congresses on current topics from the courses and their research areas and supports the exchange between business and university with a career center.

Campus of the FH Kufstein

The FH Kufstein is the employer of around 500 full-time and part-time professors and lecturers from business and science . Currently about 2200 students study on the campus of the FH Kufstein Tirol, including about 200 exchange students from around 50 nations who take part in the many English-language programs and lectures. The specialty of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences is the mandatory stays abroad. 50% of the courses are offered in the part-time organizational form, which also enables working people to study on weekends and in a blocked form.

In April 2006 the cooperation agreement was signed with the hundredth international partner university. A network of more than 200 international partner universities is currently maintained, because the mandatory exchange program is a fixed component of all courses.

history

The history of the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences began in 1992, when the first talks were held with the Tyrolean state government regarding the establishment of a university of applied sciences in Kufstein . Five years later, the University Council approved the first courses at the Kufstein site, which started in autumn 1997. The private founding association of the university of applied sciences - association for international university of applied sciences courses and further education in KufsteinTirol - was founded in 1995 by Walter J. Mayr .

In July 2005, Kufstein was the first university of applied sciences in Tyrol to adapt its organization to the new study architecture in accordance with the Bologna process - upon completion of the courses, the academic degreesBachelor ” or “ Master ” are acquired.

In 2007 the accreditation authority threatened to withdraw accreditation due to deficiencies in teaching.

In 2008, an independent research transfer company was founded to further promote research and teaching, which prepares and markets planned but also existing projects for the economy. In the same year the private foundation “University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol” was founded. This is supported by two donors , one from the city of Kufstein and the other from the founding association.

Accreditations & Certifications

The accreditations and certifications confirm conformity with specified standards and offer future users and stakeholders of the university assistance and security in choosing the institution.

The University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol and its courses are accredited in accordance with the Austrian University of Applied Sciences Studies Act. The accreditation confirms the fulfillment of recognized university quality standards and is checked at regular intervals.

In 2010, the FH Kufstein Tirol underwent an institutional evaluation by AQ Austria , Austrian quality assurance. This resulted in unlimited accreditation in accordance with Section 23 of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Act (HS-QSG).

ECTS & Diploma Supplement Label

In 2012, the European Commission awarded the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol the ECTS label and also the Diploma Supplement label, confirming the excellence and high quality of the FH in the field of international mobility. The guidelines of the labels aim at a transparent bilingual preparation of information about the study and teaching content, uniform documentation of all study achievements and contracts as well as academic recognition in order to promote international mobility.

University and family audit

The certification of the FH Kufstein Tirol as a “family-friendly” university of applied sciences confirms that the institution has dealt intensively with the compatibility of family, work and studies.

Unicert accreditation

Unicert sees itself as a foreign language training and certification system specifically for the university sector. Graduates of Unicert courses receive a certificate that provides clear and detailed information about the foreign language skills they have acquired and their degree of mastery, even outside the university sector.
