The Ferdinand Porsche FernFH is a federally funded long-distance University of Applied Sciences in Austria . It was founded in 2006 and offers distance learning courses ( Bachelor , Master ) as well as continuing education courses. FernFH was recognized as a university of applied sciences in July 2018 by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria according to international standards. The owners are FernFH Management & Service GmbH (74%) and the State of Lower Austria (26%).
history
The cooperation between the Austrian educational institutions Humboldt Bildungsgesellschaft and the Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences led to the establishment of the first Austrian distance-learning university in 2006. In the spring of 2015, the Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences initially took over one hundred percent of Ferdinand Porsche Fern-FH. In 2016 Werner Jungwirth (co-founder of FernFH) founded FernFH Management & Service GmbH and acquired one hundred percent of Ferdinand Porsche FernFH.
In 2007, teaching began with the bachelor's degree in business informatics, and the advanced master's degree was created two years later. In the same year, the FernFH expanded its range of courses with the bachelor's degree in "Business Administration & Business Psychology".
After FernFH reached 3rd place in the industrial magazine's university ranking in 2018, it landed first in 2019. The ranking shows the importance of technology change in the tertiary education sector.
In 2020 a cooperation was established with the spusu academy of the mobile phone provider spusu .

The range of courses at Ferdinand Porsche FernFH includes distance learning courses with a bachelor's and master's degree, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and certificate courses. The performance assessment is based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Study organization
The Ferdinand Porsche FernFH courses are designed as distance learning with a few days of attendance. FernFH relies on e-learning methods to enable students to study anywhere and anytime. The focal point of the course is the online campus. Extensive video content, exercises, podcasts, various learning materials, self-assessment tests and forums for exchange with fellow students and teachers are available in the courses.
The majority of the course is completed via the Online Campus, supplemented by the self-determined distance learning phases and face-to-face events. The latter takes place on six attendance days per semester on the campus in Wiener Neustadt.
The objectives, content and structure of the course are tailored to the needs of people who cannot or do not want to complete a traditional face-to-face course, e.g. B. Working people, people with care responsibilities (children, relatives in need of care) or people who live far away from universities.
Research and Teaching
According to its own information, Ferdinand Porsche FernFH conducts application-oriented research. The overarching research focus is the digitization and virtualization of society in all its specific aspects. a. Dynamics of virtual working and learning in organizations and markets, information systems , management and security as well as new technologies for promoting health and quality of life in old age and the use of digital aids in education and health. Students can take part in current research programs as part of their bachelor and master theses.
