Gerd Oelschlegel

Gerd Oelschlegel (born October 28, 1926 in Leipzig , † July 15, 1998 in Herrsching am Ammersee ) was a German playwright , screenwriter and director .

Life

Oelschlegel was the author of dramas such as Die tödliche Lüge (1955) and One of Seven (1961). The fatal lie was premiered in 1955 in the Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord . The play examines the fate of a married couple from the Soviet occupation zone and their attempts to gain a foothold in West German society.

His pieces such as the radio play A Lifetime Achievement from 1956 are still played today. In 1956 he received the Lessing Prize grant from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .

In 1957, alongside Ingeborg Bachmann , he was awarded the Bremen Literature Prize for his play Romeo and Juliet in Berlin .

He was also the author of the scripts for numerous radio and television plays and in some cases also a director . In 1962 he received the German Film Prize in the category of best screenplay for two under million and in 1964 special recognition from the press jury at the Adolf Grimme Prize for the television film Sonderurlaub , which is about a failed escape from the GDR in which Herwig Walter played one of the leading roles alongside Fritz Wepper . His most important other works include The Decision (1963), The Mayors (1964), A Man Called Pavlov (1965), The House (1965), Visit From Over There (1965), The Experiment (1966), High Voltage (1967), The Travel Bag (1967), Forbidden Game (1967) and The Children of Geltenhausen (1968).

He was also the director of the works of other authors such as the 1982 television game Fluchthelfer wanted for the work of Paul Mommertz and the scriptwriter for the television series Ein Heim für Tiere .
