Erna Nitter

Erna Nitter (born August 28, 1888 in Berlin , † June 17, 1986 in Hamburg ) was a German actress .

Life

She appeared on stage for the first time at the age of ten in the fairy tale The Little Elf Looking for the Christ Child . During this time she also entertained the children of Kaiser Wilhelm II with her performances. In 1905 she played as Prince Arthur in a performance of Shakespeare's King John in the theater for the Kaiser himself.

Further stage engagements took her to Dresden, Hanover and New York, where she appeared at the Irving Place Theater . Until the end of the Second World War, Nitter mainly operated in Berlin. In 1945 she moved to Hamburg. There she was seen on various stages, most recently at the age of 94 years together with Angélique Duvier and Friedrich Schütter at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater in The Caucasian Chalk Circle .

Although she found silent film at an early age , her film career has shown major interruptions. Usually it was only used in small roles. In the 1950s she also worked as a voice actress in films such as Ladykillers and Das Glück Came Overnight . From the first half of the fifties she worked for television. From 1912 to 1917 she was married to the actor and director Curt Goetz . In the 1970s she could often be heard in fairy tale and adventure radio plays.
