Journalist Prize of the FDGB

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The FDGB Journalist Prize was awarded by the Free German Trade Union Federation of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was founded in 1972 and first awarded in the form of a medal on June 15, 1973. The award, which incidentally was endowed with 5000 marks, was only given to journalists for their excellent work.

Appearance and wearing style

The silver-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows the writing in the center of its obverse : JOURNALISTENPREIS DES FDGB and the symbol of the FDGB above it. The inscription and the symbol are enclosed by two branches of laurel, which can be seen to the left and right of the edge of the medal. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the quote: MY / FEDER / INS / ARMS DIRECTORY by Vladimir Mayakovsky . The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 24 mm wide red covered clasp, into which four blue 3 mm wide vertical central stripes are woven. The miniature of the FDGB symbol is placed in the center.
