The canton of Condat was 2015 a French constituency in Cantal and in the former region Auvergne . It comprised nine parishes in the arrondissement of Saint-Flour ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Condat .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of the then "District de Murat". With the creation of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was assigned to the Arrondissement Murat and redesigned. On September 10, 1926, the canton changed to the Arrondissement Saint-Flour with the dissolution of the Arrondissement Murat. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.

geography

The canton bordered the former cantons of La Tour-d'Auvergne and Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise to the north and the canton of Ardes to the east , all three in the Arrondissement Issoire in the Puy-de-Dôme department , and the south-east and south Canton Allanche , in the south-west to the canton Riom-ès-Montagnes and in the north-west to the canton Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marchal , the latter two in the arrondissement of Mauriac .
