The Canton Chaudes-Aigues was 2015 a French canton in the department of Cantal and in the former region Auvergne . It included 12 parishes in the Arrondissement of Saint-Flour ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Chaudes-Aigues .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the "District de Saint-Flour". With the creation of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was assigned to the arrondissement Saint-Flour and redesigned. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.

The canton bordered in the north on the former cantons Pierrefort and canton Saint-Flour-Sud , in the northeast on the canton Ruynes-en-Margeride , in the east on the cantons Fournels and Nasbinals in the arrondissement of Mende in the department of Lozère ( Languedoc-Roussillon ) and in the West to the cantons of Laguiole and Sainte-Geneviève-sur-Argence in the Arrondissement of Rodez in the Aveyron department ( Midi-Pyrénées ).
