The Canton of Vic-sur-Cère is a French constituency in the department of Cantal and the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It includes 23 parishes in the Aurillac arrondissement . His bureau centralisateur is in the municipality of Vic-sur-Cère .

history

The canton was established on March 4, 1790 as part of what was then the "District d'Aurillac". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was assigned to the Aurillac arrondissement and redesigned. From 1800 to 2015 twelve municipalities belonged to the canton of Vic-sur-Cère. The canton was enlarged on March 22, 2015 as part of the nationwide reorganization of the cantons. A further twelve municipalities from other cantons were added. At the same time, one of the previous municipalities transferred to another canton. The communes of the new canton come from the cantons of Vic-sur-Cère (11 communes), Canton Aurillac-4 (7 communes), Arpajon-sur-Cère (4 communes) and Laroquebrou (1 commune). This is why the canton of Vic-sur-Cère has now had 23 municipalities since 2015.
