The Arrondissement Aurillac is an administrative district in the Cantal department in the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes . The eponymous capital and prefecture of the department is Aurillac .

history

On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Cantal department, a District d'Aurillac was also established, which was already identical to the current arrondissement. With the foundation of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district became the arrondissement Aurillac.

geography

The arrondissement borders in the north on the arrondissement Mauriac , in the northeast on the arrondissement Saint-Flour , in the southeast and south on the arrondissements Rodez and Villefranche-de-Rouergue in the department Aveyron ( Occitania ), in the west on the arrondissement Figeac in the department Lot , also Occitanie region, and in the northwest to the arrondissement Tulle in the department Corrèze ( Limousin ).
