Marcolès is located in the Massif Central , in the Châtaigneraie , about 17 kilometers south-southwest of Aurillac . This is where the Ressègue and the Rance originate . Marcolès is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vitrac in the north and northwest, Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat in the north, Roannes-Saint-Mary in the northeast, Lafeuillade-en-Vézie and Lacapelle-del-Fraisse in the east, Sansac-Veinazès in the southeast, Sénezergues , Puycapel with Calvinet and Saint-Antoine in the south, Leynhac in the southwest and Boisset in the west.
