Le Rouget-Pers was formed on January 1, 2016 from the previously independent municipalities of Le Rouget and Pers .

Le Rouget-Pers is located about 14 kilometers west-southwest of Aurillac in the Massif Central , in the Châtaigneraie am Cère , which borders the municipality in the north-west. Le Rouget-Pers is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Gérons in the north, La Chapelle-Viescamp in the northeast, Omps in the east, Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat in the east and southeast, Cayrols in the south, Roumégoux in the west and southwest, La Ségalassière in the west and Glénat in the west and northwest.
