Ayrens ( Occitan : Airen ) is a French municipality with 652 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Aurillac and the canton of Saint-Paul-des-Landes (until 2015: canton Laroquebrou ). The inhabitants are called Ayrencois .

Ayrens is about eleven kilometers northwest of Aurillac . Ayrens is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Santin-Illide in the north, Freix-Anglards in the east and northeast, Jussac in the east, Teissières-de-Cornet in the southeast, Saint-Paul-des-Landes in the south, Nieudan in the west and Saint-Victor in the West and northwest.
