Puycapel is a French municipality with 783 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Aurillac and is part of the cantons Arpajon-sur-Cère (district Calvinet) and Maurs (district Mourjou).

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities Calvinet and Mourjou , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Calvinet.

Puycapel is about 15 miles southeast of Aurillac . The Célé flows through the municipality . Puycapel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Leynhac and Saint-Antoine in the north, Marcolès in the north and north-east, Sénezergues in the east and north-east, Cassaniouze in the south and south-east, Conques-en-Rouergue in the south, Saint-Santin in the south and south-west and Saint- Constant-Fournoulès to the south and west.
