The Communauté de communes de la chestnut trees of Cantal is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the department of Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It was founded on January 1, 2017 and comprises 50 municipalities (as of January 1, 2019). The administrative headquarters are in Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat .

Historical development

The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Communauté de communes Cère et Rance en Châtaigneraie ,
• Communauté de communes Entre 2 Lacs ,
• Communauté de communes du Pays de Maurs and
• Communauté de communes du Pays de Montsalvy .

With effect from January 1, 2019, the following merger of municipalities took place:

• Merger of Calvinet and Mourjou → Puycapel

The former communities left the community association, the Commune nouvelle joined it. This reduced the number of member churches from 51 to 50.
