The Communauté de communes du Massif du Sancy is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the departments of Puy-de-Dôme and Cantal of the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It was founded on December 10, 1999 and currently comprises 20 communities. The administrative headquarters are in Mont-Dore . The community association is named after the Massif du Sancy . The specialty lies in the cross-departmental structure of the member communities.

Historical development

With effect from January 1, 2017, the association of municipalities was expanded to include the municipalities of La Godivelle, Saint-Genès-Champespe, Le Vernet-Sainte-Marguerite and the municipality of Montgreleix, which comes from the neighboring Cantal department.

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Saint-Diéry and Creste ( Agglo Pays d'Issoire municipal association ) became part of the Commune nouvelle Saint-Diéry . This increased the area of ​​the community association.
