The Clermont Auvergne Métropole is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Métropole in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It was founded on December 24, 1999 and comprises 21 parishes. The administrative headquarters are in the city of Clermont-Ferrand .

Historical development

With effect from January 1, 2017, the community association was renamed from Clermont Communauté to its current name and raised from the legal form of a communauté d'agglomération to that of a communauté urbaine .

With effect from January 1, 2018, the legal form has now been changed to that of a metropolis .
