Durtol is a French commune in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes in the Arrondissement Clermont-Ferrand . It belonged to the canton of Royat until March 2015 and since that date to the canton of Cébazat . The community has 2,015 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).
geography
Durtol lies on the Chaîne des Puys , a chain of several volcanic peaks in the Massif Central . Durtol is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nohanent in the north, Blanzat in the northeast, Clermont-Ferrand in the east, Orcines in the south and west and Chanat-la-Mouteyre in the northwest.
