Cournols is a French municipality with 242 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). Cournols belongs to the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and the canton of Orcines (until 2015 Saint-Amant-Tallende ).

Cournols is about 14 kilometers south-southwest of Clermont-Ferrand . The municipality is bordered to the south by the river Monne . Cournols is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aydat in the north and west, Saint-Saturnin in the east and northeast, Olloix in the south and Saint-Nectaire in the southwest.
