Espirat is a French municipality with 408 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Espirat belongs to the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and the Canton of Billom (until 2015: Canton Vertaizon ). The inhabitants are called piradaires .

Espirat is located about 18 kilometers east-southeast of Clermont-Ferrand in the Limagne countryside on the Jauron River . Espirat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bouzel in the north, Moissat in the northeast, Reignat in the east, Billom in the south, Chas in the west and Vassel in the west and northwest.
