La Sauvetat is a French municipality with 720 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and the canton of Les Martres-de-Veyre (until 2015: canton of Veyre-Monton ).

La Sauvetat is about 17 kilometers south-southeast of Clermont-Ferrand . La Sauvetat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Veyre-Monton in the north, Corent in the northeast, Authezat in the east and southeast, Plauzat in the south and west and Tallende in the northwest.

The A75 autoroute runs through the municipality .

history

In the Middle Ages, La Sauvetat was the seat of a commander of the Order of St. John. Until 1872, the now independent municipality Authezat and La Sauvetat formed the municipality Authezat-la-Sauvetat .
