Tallende is about 13 kilometers south of Clermont-Ferrand on the Veyre . Tallende is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Crest in the north, Veyre-Monton in the east and northeast, La Sauvetat in the southeast, Plauzat in the south, Saint-Sandoux in the southwest and Saint-Amant-Tallende in the west.

The A75 autoroute runs along the eastern edge of the municipality .
