Chamalières is a French city with 17,173 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The city is located in the arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and is the capital ( French chef-lieu ) of the canton of Chamalières .
