Mur-sur-Allier is a French commune with 3,412 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and to the cantons of Billom and Pont-du-Château .

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities Mezel and Dallet , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Mezel.

geography

The municipality is located around twelve kilometers east of the city center of Clermont-Ferrand . The Allier River runs in the western municipality . Neighboring municipalities are: Pont-du-Château in the north, Vertaizon in the northeast, Chauriat in the east, Saint-Bonnet-lès-Allier in the southeast, Pérignat-sur-Allier in the south, Cournon-d'Auvergne in the southwest and Lempdes in the northwest.
