Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne is a French municipality with 519 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and the canton of Billom (until 2015: canton of Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne ).

Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne is located about 32 kilometers east-southeast of Clermont-Ferrand in the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park . Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Trézioux in the north, Saint-Flour in the north and northeast, Domaize in the east, Ceilloux in the east and southeast, Auzelles in the south, Saint-Jean-des-Ollières in the southwest and Estandeuil in the West.
The former route nationale 497 (today's D997) runs through the municipality .
