Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Trézioux in the north, Saint-Flour in the north and northeast, Domaize in the east, Ceilloux in the east and southeast, Auzelles in the south, Saint-Jean-des-Ollières in the southwest and Estandeuil in the West.
