The canton of Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne was a French canton in the arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand , in the department of Puy-de-Dôme and in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes until 2015 ; its main town was Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne , and Gérard Cartailler was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 2008 to 2015. The canton was 130.41 km² and had (2006) 3,203 inhabitants, which corresponded to a population density of 25 inhabitants per km².
