The canton Olliergues was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Ambert in the Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Yves Fournet-Fayard was the last representative in the General Council of the Department from 1988 to 2015.

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 in the course of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District Ambert". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of the then Arrondissement of Ambert. From September 10, 1926 to June 1, 1942, the canton was part of the Thiers arrondissement .

The canton bordered in the north on the canton Courpière in the Arrondissement Thiers , in the east on the canton Saint-Georges-en-Couzan in the arrondissement Montbrison in the Loire department , in the south on the cantons Ambert , Saint-Amant-Roche-Savine and Cunlhat and im West to the canton of Saint-Dier-d'Auvergne in the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand .
