Vertolaye is a French municipality with 535 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). Vertolaye belongs to the Arrondissement of Ambert and the canton of Les Monts du Livradois (until 2015 Olliergues ).

Vertolaye is located about 58 kilometers east-south-east of Clermont-Ferrand in Limagne and on the Dore River . Vertolaye is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Pierre-la-Bourlhonne in the north, Job in the south and east, Bertignat in the south-west and Marat in the west and north-west.
