Job is a French commune with 1,018 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Ambert and the canton of Ambert of the same name .
geography
The municipality is located about 50 kilometers south-east of Clermont-Ferrand and 25 kilometers west of Montbrison in the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park , on the border with the neighboring Loire department .

- Vertolaye and Saint-Pierre-la-Bourlhonne in the north,

- Ambert in the southwest and

The municipality is located on the western flank of the Monts du Forez mountain range . The Pierre-sur-Haute summit (1631 m) with the Pierre-sur-Haute military radio station is located on the ridge . Many small streams arise on the heights of the Monts du Forez , all of which are collected by the Dore River , which runs along the western municipal boundary, and drain through the Allier and Loire .
Transport links
At the western boundary of the municipality, the D906 departmental road (from Vichy to Le Puy-en-Velay ) runs parallel to the Dore river in a north-south direction. The municipal capital of Job is connected to the high-level road network via the departmental roads D66 and D67.
Also in the valley floor of the Dore is a railway line, on which the tourist train Ligne touristique du Livradois-Forez operates today.
