Mayres is a French commune of 200 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Ambert and the Canton of Ambert (until 2015 Arlanc ).

Mayres is located about 68 kilometers southeast of Clermont-Ferrand and about 65 kilometers west of Saint-Étienne in the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park . Mayres is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Arlanc in the north, Dore-l'Église in the east, Malvières in the south and south-east, La Chapelle-Geneste in the south and south-west, Saint-Sauveur-la-Sagne in the west and Novacelles in the north-west.
