Dore-l'Église is located about 68 kilometers southeast of Clermont-Ferrand and about 50 kilometers west of Saint-Étienne in the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park . The river Dore flows through Dore-l'Église . Dore-l'Église is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Arlanc in the north and north-west, Medeyrolles in the north-east, Saint-Jean-d'Aubrigoux in the east, Saint-Victor-sur-Arlanc in the south and south-east, Malvières in the south and south-east and Mayres in the West.
The former route nationale 106 (today's D906) runs through the municipality .
