Saillant is a French municipality with 288 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Ambert and the canton of Ambert (until 2015 canton of Viverols ).

Saillant is located about 60 kilometers southeast of Clermont-Ferrand in the Livradois-Forez am Ance Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities of Saillant are Saint-Romain in the north, La Chaulme in the east, La Chapelle-en-Lafaye in the east and south-east, Estivareilles in the south-east, Usson-en-Forez in the south, Viverols in the west and south-west and Églisolles in the west and north-west.
