The canton Ambert is a French constituency in the Arrondissement Ambert in the Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Jacquie Douarre has been a representative in the General Council of the Department since 2004.
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 in the course of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District Ambert". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of the then Arrondissement of Ambert. From September 10, 1926 to June 1, 1942, the canton was part of the Thiers arrondissement .
