The Canton Ardes was 2015 a French constituency in the Arrondissement Issoire , in Puy-de-Dôme and the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Bernard Vessière was last representative in the General Council of the Département from 1982 to 2015.
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the Issoire district .
With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the Arrondissement of Issoire.

geography
The canton bordered in the north on the canton Champeix , in the northeast on the canton Issoire , in the east on the canton Saint-Germain-Lembron , in the southeast on the canton Blesle in the Arrondissement Brioude in the Haute-Loire department , in the south on the cantons Massiac , Allanche and Condat in the arrondissement of Saint-Flour in the Cantal department and in the west to the canton of Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise .
