Saint-Hérent is located about 13 kilometers southwest of Issoire on the eastern slope of the Massif Central . Saint-Hérent is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ternant-les-Eaux and Mareugheol in the north, Villeneuve in the northeast, Boudes in the east, Madriat in the southeast, Ardes in the south, La Chapelle-Marcousse in the southwest and Dauzat-sur-Vodable in the west and northwest .
